BSA Infiltration by Moral Degenerates...

I submit that this expression of concern by a father and scouter to his Eagle Scout son expresses eloquently my own concerns.  You can rest assured that I will be forwarding this letter to my Eagle Scout son with special emphasis on this key sentence:

"If the BSA Board is more devoted to its corporate sponsors than the organization's mission, and fears it will collapse without those sponsors, then let it fall with honor rather than decline in disgrace."

We as scouters, sponsors, and supporters of the tradition of scouting in preparing boys to be the ethical and moral men who can stand in the face increasing demands to compromise standards, must be Semper Vigilare (ever vigilant) against those who would tear down the organization from within.  I would propose the immediate ousting of any who would compromise this sacred tradition.



I would appreciate any comments and thoughts by those who care.

(NOTE: This letter is a response from Mark Alexander to his son, a Cadet at the U.S. Air Force Academy, concerning the Boy Scouts of America national board proposal to allow homosexual Scout leaders. Alexander is both a Troop Scoutmaster and member of his area Boy Scout Executive Council.)

I received your note about news of an upcoming proposal before the Boy Scouts of America national board, which meets Wednesday, February 6th.

According to the news release regarding that proposal, "The BSA is discussing potentially removing the national membership restriction regarding sexual orientation." You are correct, the removal of this restriction will permit local BSA Councils to accept homosexual members and, moreover, to invite homosexuals to serve in leadership positions at all levels of the organization.

I understand your profound disappointment in this great organization, after all you accomplished to obtain your Eagle rank. I share that disappointment as your former Scoutmaster, and many years in other leadership positions with the BSA.

When sufferings become insufferable…

The Declaration of Independence states that, “…all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms [of government] to which they are accustomed…”  This phrase has intrigued me for many years.  I always wondered just where that point is reached within the frame work of a free People when they say, “The sufferings are no longer sufferable.”

Setting the Record Straight: the Enemy is the Enemy

Penning this piece on January 21, 2013, I find it befuddling that there are still people in the outdoor and shooting sports community who are attempting to remain apolitical. They shy away from definitive terms like "liberal" or "conservative". These folks still believe that, if you only try hard enough, you can win a logical argument with people whose decisions are driven by emotion.

I've been scolded and advised not to "provoke" the anti-gun crowd, those who wish to disarm lawful American citizens. We need to be reasonable and willing to compromise I've been told. I will admit that I understand the origins of what I call the "reasonableness disease"; it stems from Mirror Thinking.

Are some rights more equal than others?

Sometimes the concepts of Liberty are just too simple to comprehend easily.  That is almost an oxymoron phrase.  We have been indoctrinated with the implications for so long in our schools that our rights come from the Constitution.  However the very simple truth is that they are a gift from our Creator, Higher Power, by right of birth, by the fact that we are born, etc.  Whichever one works for you will work for the thoughts expressed here.  

I recently ran across an article that really gave me another perspective that I thought I would share.  The Bill of Rights (BOR) describes or enumerates a number of very important rights that are essential to a free people.  The author made it clear that no one expressed right was of a higher value than another.  For example when the question, “Why would anyone need more than 10 rounds to hunt with?” would then become “Why would anyone need more than 10 books?” or “Why would anyone need more than 10 bibles?” or “Why would anyone need more than 10 letters to the editor?” or “Why would any one town need more than one newspaper or church?”

30 Round Mags...

I have been asked my opinion on the necessity of keeping 30 rounds magazines for guns.  To quote some comments: “The only reason for 30 round mag is to kill people – why should the government allow those?”  “What possible sporting use is a 30 round mag?”  And so it goes that it would appear to the average person that there is really no necessity for these large capacity mags, except to kill people.

So it is time to get down to the cold hard unpleasant facts that no one really wants to think about or consider.  The true purpose of the Second Amendment is not to preserve sporting purposes, or to make a better target shooter, or to hunt much of anything in the wild kingdom.  The true purpose is as check on, as last resort against, a government that has gone completely outside its boundaries. 

The Will to Resist...

In the Old Testament the Israelites had just crossed the Red Sea in a miraculous event.  Water came from the rock and many other numerous miracles had occurred.  However when they came to the banks of the Jordan and saw the giants and scary people on the other side of the river their hearts were faint and they pulled back from taking the Promised Land.  I maintain they had what I call the "slave mentality."

These folks had just come from many years of slavery and bowing and scraping and learning obedience from the time they were born.  The will to "resist" had been trained out of them.  In fact they were trained to be obedient to apparent authority just because the authority was clothed in the trappings of legality.

Hmmm.... It's beginning to look like the Chicago Machine is getting fully ready to battle the People in an attempt steal more Liberty.   The Machine is getting nervous that Illinois may have a measure of Liberty if they don't get everyone hyped up to steal everyone's guns by passing more unconstitutional laws.  It would appear that the plan as usual is to pass the unconstitutional law anyway then let "whoever" take it through the courts over the years it takes to fight this type battle; meanwhile there is an illegal law on the books that is being enforced, at least until it is struck down again.  Then they simply revise and pass again.

Well they have the number of days you see below to get it done.  Let's hope that it will get confounded by the pro-liberty legislators that are coming in.  Will they be enough?  We will see...  In the mean time continue on all other fronts.  Buy ammo and guns as the budget allows...
